Humble beginnings

I've always been into crafts and done knitting (still proudly remember my first scarf with the lovely giant hole in the middle - I did that!) rug-making, sewing, making woollen pom-poms, painting stones, picture framing, willow sculptures etc.

We've now got a fantastic shop (Sweet Ginger Emporium) down the road that does courses, and I've learnt some quilting with them. I thought now was a good time to keep a record of what I'm doing, what I've done and I'll be able to see improvements and keep an eye on the new stuff I learn as well!

Considering all that, I'm not in the least bit artisitic!

Baby blanket #2

This one's for a little boy called Bruce.

A combination of centre square, 4 triangles and 4 rectangles (with corners folded over to turn into a large square) and using thick black strips to join two squares together and full length thinner strips to join three squares to three squares - all together making it just off square completed.

Putting all 9 squares together on the backing material.
To start with, all 9 squares were placed individually and when the order was decided, pinned in place so I didn't forget the plan!
Next step was sewing the three together using shorter black strips, before sewing to the full length strip.
Final step was to sew full length edging around the whole blanket......All very organised!
