Humble beginnings

I've always been into crafts and done knitting (still proudly remember my first scarf with the lovely giant hole in the middle - I did that!) rug-making, sewing, making woollen pom-poms, painting stones, picture framing, willow sculptures etc.

We've now got a fantastic shop (Sweet Ginger Emporium) down the road that does courses, and I've learnt some quilting with them. I thought now was a good time to keep a record of what I'm doing, what I've done and I'll be able to see improvements and keep an eye on the new stuff I learn as well!

Considering all that, I'm not in the least bit artisitic!

Needlefelting

I joined a group of gals round the kitchen table at our local craft shop and had a go at needlefelting.  My robin was voted "best robin of the day".  I then went home and showed my partner how it was done, then got carried away with making decorations for friends for Christmas.

Victorian Crazy Quilting

I had a go at Victorian Crazy Quilting at our local craft shop, just something new to learn.  I had no idea what it was, and even more oddly, I don't even like green that much, but that was the first colour I put down, so I also had to work out who I was making it for!  It ended up being a cushion for a very good friend of mine.

It's all about a variety of textures, starting with a basic square of calico (now underneath) some aren't stitched down on all sides, there are buttons, lace, velvet, mesh, cotton and I then edged it with black material, so it stood out more and then backed with a purple velvet material.
