Humble beginnings

I've always been into crafts and done knitting (still proudly remember my first scarf with the lovely giant hole in the middle - I did that!) rug-making, sewing, making woollen pom-poms, painting stones, picture framing, willow sculptures etc.

We've now got a fantastic shop (Sweet Ginger Emporium) down the road that does courses, and I've learnt some quilting with them. I thought now was a good time to keep a record of what I'm doing, what I've done and I'll be able to see improvements and keep an eye on the new stuff I learn as well!

Considering all that, I'm not in the least bit artisitic!

Baby Blanket #1

This one's for a little girl called Myla.

Each star is sewn using 6 diamonds, then joined together with a black diamond so the colours stand out a bit more.

The top and bottom borders were straightened out by folding the diamond in half, the sides were left zigzag.  To hold the shape a bit, I stitched around the zigzag sides and some random stars.  You can see one outlined star on the finished article photo.
