Our area is raising money for a new room for the Breast Cancer Ward at our local hospital, and we were asked to help make some YoYo Brooches which are being sold as part of the effort.

| My stash from under the stairs |
Bringing along your own stash of material, buttons, cotton etc helps, so I went into the depths of The-Cupboard-Under-The-Stairs and came up with a whole heap of goodies, including some vintage buttons that everyone loved!

I stayed for about 4.5 hours, but that included lunch, it was probably closer to 3.5 hours work. We used the cardboard templates, cut out the material - we had 4, 5 & 6 inch circles, but just used the 4 & 6 combo. A double-thread slip stitich round the whole circle, we started to do a fold-over hem, but it was a lot quicker (& they came out bigger) if we just did a circle of thread, then pulled tight so the pleats end up in the middle. The smaller one goes on top and secured with a button.
Easy once you know how and quick once you get the hang of it!
